Backcountry Trail Construction
Trail Location: Monroe Bridge, MA

 

Project Profile: The Dunbar Brook Trail is a canoe portage and whitewater recreation viewing trail. The trail allows users to safely exit the Deerfield River and climb its steep banks to reach the Dunbar Picnic Area.

 

During whitewater release weekends, kayaker and rafters now use the trail to access some of the most challenging rapids on the Deerfield River.

 

This new trail construction trail exhibits a wide range of technical elements including: a 250 foot long elevated boardwalk and staircase system, stone staircases, stone cribbing, timber check steps, and naturally surfaced tread.
