Backcountry Trail Construction
Project Profile: Bear Mountain State Park, New York
As part of the relocation of this highly used
section of the Appalachian Trail, Timber & Stone, LLC was contracted to
construct a stone retaining wall. Granite blocks were harvested and shaped
on site. Grip hoist rigging was used to move the massive stones into place
to create this 50 foot long and 5 foot high retaining wall. The wall will allow
the trail to maintain its gentle grade and comfortable width, despite the surrounding
steep topography.
